PostgreSQL courses for development and operations
Understand your database instead of just trusting it.
Two courses designed to work together take you from your first SELECT to a cluster you shut down and recover yourself. Everything runs on your machine, and every exercise is verified against PostgreSQL 18.
- 48 units in two courses
- Over 150 hours of learning
- Verified on PostgreSQL 18
- Runs locally with Docker
Does this sound familiar?
- The query was fast yesterday. Today it isn't, and nobody knows why.
- The ORM generates SQL that nobody on the team can evaluate.
- The table keeps growing even though hardly any data is being added.
- There is a backup. Whether the restore works, nobody has ever tried.
- If the primary goes down, the team hopes the failover kicks in.
That is exactly what these courses are for: you learn not just what to type, but what PostgreSQL does in response, and you rehearse the emergency before it happens.
PostgreSQL Fundamentals
The start with no prior knowledge: from the relational model and clean SQL to your first index that makes a query measurably faster. 16 units, about 27 to 35 hours.
€249.00 incl. VAT
PostgreSQL Engineer Training
From user to database engineer: execution plans, index design, backup and PITR, Patroni, monitoring, security and architecture. 32 units, about 130 to 145 hours.
€890.00 incl. VAT
Both courses as a bundle
The complete path from your first SELECT to a senior role, as PDF and in the reading view, for less than buying them separately.
€999.00 incl. VAT
How you learn at Bridge Layer
No slides, no videos playing in the background. Every unit is an assignment on a real database.
Run it yourself
Every script and every configuration is in the text in full. You type, run it and see what happens.
Predict first, then measure
Many exercises ask for your expectation first. Comparing it with the real result is the moment it clicks.
Failure on purpose
Provoke deadlocks, create bloat, delete data and bring it back. What you have experienced once under controlled conditions, you will recognize in a real incident.
Everything on your machine
From a single server to a three-node cluster, every environment runs in Docker. No cloud account, no extra costs.
Solutions on demand
Every unit comes with solutions and measured values. They stay hidden until you deliberately reveal them.
Current and verified
All content targets PostgreSQL 18; results and plans come from real runs.
Frequently asked questions
Which course is right for me?
If you are confident with joins, GROUP BY, constraints and transactions and have read an execution plan before, start with the Engineer Training. Otherwise Fundamentals is the right place to start; its final assignment demonstrates exactly these prerequisites.
Do I need a server or a cloud account?
No. All exercise environments run as containers on your machine, including the multi-node clusters.
I still work with PostgreSQL 16 or 17. Is it worth it?
Yes. The principles apply across versions, and where PostgreSQL 18 behaves differently, the units point out the version boundary.
Do I get support or answers to my questions?
No. The courses are self-study courses without individual support. Everything you need is in the text: every unit describes its exercise environment in full, and the solutions include measured values to compare against. You can report errors in the material to learn@bridge-layer.com at any time.
Where do I find my invoice?
After payment, your invoice is ready to download in your account.
Get to know your database before the next incident teaches you.
The first unit takes a few hours. After that, you will read execution plans with different eyes.
